Show Notes
Lessons we learned in 2020
- Surviving and thriving during lockdown (EP 288)
- The best accessory every photographer must own – confidence
Luci Valentine: My goal for 2020 was to learn flash and I accomplished it thanks to this wonderful group! I had used it in the past with no understanding of how it actually works. This year I developed the skills to understand how my camera, my speed light and ambient light all work together thanks to your peeling the potato approach. Confidence in my craft was goal number two and I accomplished that by saying yes to every opportunity even if I didn’t feel ready and by participating in the Front Steps Project that forced me to do 40 family photo shoots. www.lucivalentinephotography.com
- Working the shot: Ep 286: Travel and street photography with guest David duChemin
- The importance of mindset
Vanessa McIver @ key_ingredient_photography Lighting and Creativity and composites: I learned how to use flash this year, quickly progressing from speedlites to studio flash. I did a major historical project shoot. The bottle and product shots I took are going to be featured in Gourmet Traveller and Better Homes and Gardens in an easter campaign from jan-april
- Focus stacking
Sue Morris: So many new things this year, Gina. Learning heaps about Photoshop. Playing with my speedlight during lockdown, and using the Canon app to take self-portraits. Last but not least, learning how to do focus-stacking. I’m sure there are more, but I just can’t think of them at the moment. I’ve certainly learnt more being a member of the Goldies than I have in any other group I’ve belonged to. And that’s not to mention the other members, who are always wonderfully helpful and supportive.
- The best authentic smile hack ever! Ep 279: How to shoot relaxed and authentic portraits with guest Nick Boothman
